  1. One issue among many more pressing ones facing the Amhara people, is the deliberate attempt by Oromo “scholars” to revise Ethiopian history by claiming Amhara historical figures, culture, places, and events as their own.

One tiny example out of many, is an attempt by an Oromo scholar, Mohammed Hassen to claim Susenyos was adopted by Oromos when he was kept captive after maurading Oromos killed his father Fasil. He also claimed Susenyos wife was Oromo, and thus Fasilidas being half Oromo.

There is no source to support this Oromo revised history. Plenty of sources say the wife of Susenyos came from an old Christian family, no mention of ethnicty. In the revised Oromo history, there is no mention that Susenyos was rescued by his uncle. Oromo revised history also leaves out that Susenyos, fought during the remainder of his reign fighting the Oromo with the knowledge he gained while being their prisoner. He studied the war tactics and gained grasp of their language, and used it against them.

Why does the Oromo revised history leave out details of a much more sourced version of history? It’s because they want to claim Amhara history, and people. In this case Gondar Amhara history.

This is 1 one of many example, of how Oromos are trying to claim other people’s history.
